What are the key considerations that the Singapore government has in planning for Singapore’s future? What are the challenges in managing the use of Singapore’s limited space to support economic growth and maintain a good quality of life for a 6.5 mil population in the next 40 to 50 years?
Our speaker, Mrs Cheong-Chua Koon Hean will be sharing her insights from a planner’s perspectives, on the considerations and challenges in planning for Singapore’s long-term future.

Mrs Cheong-Chua Koon Hean is concurrently the Deputy Secretary (Special Duties) in the Ministry of National Development. She is also a board member of the Jurong Town Corporation and the National Heritage Board.
She started her career as a planner with the Public Works Department and subsequently took on various appointments in the public sector. These included Director (Strategic Planning) with the Ministry of National Development and Director (International Business Development) with the Ministry of Trade & Industry. She was appointed CEO, URA from 1 April 2004. As CEO, URA she plays a key role in planning and facilitating the physical development of Singapore.
Mrs Cheong graduated from the University of Newcastle, Australia as a university gold medalist in architecture under a Colombo Plan scholarship. She also holds a master’s degree in urban development planning from University College, London.
